STEVEN HOLTZMAN, PAST PRESIDENT

Steven Holtzman is a Principal Research Data Analyst in the Data Analysis and Research Technologies group at the Educational Testing Service. His work at ETS concentrates on study design, data management and data analysis, which helps foster research in many areas of education. Some of his recent projects have focused on non-cognitive assessments, automated item generation, the validity and fairness of examinations, and teacher effectiveness.
           
Since attending his first NERA conference in October 2009, he has appreciated that the organization allows educational researchers to share innovative research, expand their knowledge and make important connections. He has been actively involved in the association and subsequently, has served the roles of NERA Treasurer (2016-2018), NERA Presidential Advisor for Special Projects (2014), NERA Conference Co-chair (2013), NERA Infrastructure Committee Member and Chair, NERA Communications Committee Member and Chair, NERA Webmaster, NERA Doherty Award Committee Member, NERA Discussant, Session Chair and Proposal Reviewer. In October 2018, he was honored to be presented with the 2018 Leo D. Doherty Memorial Award for Outstanding Leadership and Service. Steven is excited to serve as NERA 2021 President and looks forward to continuing to work with the NERA community in this role.
