Steven Holtzman is a Senior Research Data Analyst in the Data Analysis and Research Technologies group at Educational Testing Service. He graduated from Boston University in 2008 with a master’s degree in Statistics and a bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Economics. His work at ETS concentrates on the use of a wide variety of data analysis methods, such as structural equation modeling, multivariate analyses and complex sampling design to help foster research in many areas of education. Some of his recent projects have focused on noncognitive assessments, the validity and fairness of examinations, teacher effectiveness and workforce selection assessments. He has also co-authored numerous publications and presented at many conferences, including  AERA, NERA, the Northeast SAS User’s Group and the SAS Global Forum.

            Since attending his first NERA conference in October 2009, Steven has been actively involved in the association. He has presented research and has served as a session chair and proposal reviewer each year. Additionally, he served as the NERA Communications Committee Chair from 2010-2012, the 2012 NERA webmaster, NERA 2013 conference co-chair, the NERA Presidential Advisor for Special Projects in 2014, and the NERA Infrastructure Committee chair from 2013-2015. He is very excited to continue to contribute to the NERA community as the NERA treasurer.
